I'm very pleased to see the NSA has launched their Apprenticeship Training Service.  This will enable small organisations to look at employing apprentices for short periods.  Until now employers were expected to commit to employing apprentices continuously for 2 years.  Please click here for their article.

Vision PDF Print E-mail

Our vision is to coordinate provision of quality training to support the region's entertainment industries, and to increase the number and range of skilled backstage and offstage technical staff to meet the region's current and future needs.

  • To source and coordinate relevant training, by using existing providers and seeking new providers for vocational skills in off-stage and backstage skills.  Training provision will be largely demand led, involving researching regional organisations’ needs for existing staff, freelance and potential new staff.
  • To develop and deliver means for existing staff  and new entrants to gain qualification, using relevant national qualification structures, such as Skillscene’s, existing industry standards, training and work experience.

  • To develop vocational training for the region by analysing regional training needs and provision, support training providers to develop their courses, and monitor the value of training provision.  This will also include arranging training for trainers in practical training course structures and techniques, skills assessors to A1 standard.

  • To influence the national training agenda by developing relationships with relevant industry lead bodies, funding bodies, employers organisations, unions and the NSA.

  • To be a resource for employers seeking freelance staff by providing contacts for relevant staff in the region, particularly those who have been involved with MOSC either receiving or delivering training.
