MOSC currently represents employers and employees involved in live performance and music in the Midlands. Our research so far suggests many employers, in this sector in the Midlands, struggle to find and fund relevant training. They use providers, many from outside our sector, to deliver training that isn’t always sufficiently relevant or to the necessary level. Existing sector relevant providers include the ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians), the AETTI (Arts and Entertainment Technical Training Initiative) and BECTU (Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union) who arrange and deliver relevant training nationally. Employees find it difficult to quantify their sometimes considerable skills for prospective employers and will benefit from accessible training and assessment. MOSC has the regional focus for determining, coordinating and delivering relevant training and assessment, through researching regional resources, collaborating with existing employees who can train, and training venues from within sector employers. |
