I'm very pleased to see the NSA has launched their Apprenticeship Training Service. This will enable small organisations to look at employing apprentices for short periods. Until now employers were expected to commit to employing apprentices continuously for 2 years. Please click here for their article.

I've sent out renewals for membership for 2010/2011. I'm hoping our current members will renew, and expect to have some new members in the coming months.

The National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills have arranged several opportunities for students to spend a day at an arts venue, talking to staff about work and career in our industry. This year, with the help of Founder Colleges, they've arranged 25 events around the country between 1st October and 8th December.

I'm encouraged by the success of our first trainin
g seminar last October, Working at Height Awareness. Here is what some satisfied attendees are saying;
"Attending MOSC's recent Working at Height Seminar led by Chris Higgs allowed my staff and myself to update our understanding of current thinking in this area without the expense of a full course.
The discount received through being a MOSC member, made the day even more attractive." Chris Cuthbert
"The seminar was very useful for me. It taught me some things I didn’t know and corrected some things I thought I knew. The venue was well chosen – easy to get to, and the food and hospitality were excellent. Many thanks to all – I would certainly recommend future MOSC events to colleagues." Dutch Van Spall
"I thought the course gave a broad overview and showed me the areas where I need further training." Mick Diver
